There were so many new faces, even adults from the
community are coming out. The light is getting brighter and brighter each week. So many new volunteers are taking a hold with assisting, taking ownership and leadership.
Where did the time go?
From introductions, to coloring, to playing games, to talking, to singing to feeding to encouraging and it’s over already. Well it’s only over for this particular night of the particular week but, with much anticipation for another night with these at-risk children.
A local teenager from the community, is giving back already. He has taken the lead with BBQing the meal among-st all the other things he is doing. He comes ready to serve and is trying to keep his smiles at bay, but, these smiles sneak in when you compliment him. He enjoys listening to our conversations, to see what excites us, you know; things like how fun it used to be when we ride in the back of a truck.
I can honestly say, it is impossible to sleep after a night full of joy. Lord, help us get rest in between these nights and our work schedules. Thank you Jesus for all that you do in all of our lives!
Upon departure a new girl and her sister asked if we were going to be back again. I said, every Wednesday, she said, okay, but, are you going to be back? I said YES of course! Why would she ask a question like that? If you don’t know it is because they want ‘hope’ in their lives and maybe people have promised things yet never followed through or maybe because, people have not taken a genuine interest in their lives. After all, we are to build others up not tear them down. At the beginning she spoke about her interest in singing and how she struggled with it because of her shyness, because, I spoke to her with words of encouragement and for her to start where she felt comfortable (at the table) and guess what by the end of the night she stood and sang.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
